Stages of Oscar: Art Carney

Today’s Oscar winning Tony nominee is Art Carney.  In addition to his TV appearances in the 1950s and 1960s, he had a fairly active stage career during that time.  He was a Tony nominee for Actor in a Play in 1969 for his appearance in Brian Friel’s Lovers.  The Tony that year went to James Earl Jones for The Great White Hope.  Carney’s Oscar came in 1974 for his performance in Harry and Tonto.
